Parenthood

I wrote this a while ago and only have the time to post it up now.

It's now day 4 after Theia's arrival. I started composing this one morning on my BB while waiting for someone. Let me see, where should I start???

Ok here goes.

Theia, welcome to daddy and mommy's world. Your arrival meant the world to us. It is our turn to take care of the younger ones; like Granny used to tell me: In life people take care of you, and one day you will have to take care of someone too.

Now, my take on parenthood only 4 days after becoming a dad.

Well, let's just put it, parenthood starts with 'fun'. As you progress, the road become steeper and windier. Actually, wifey told me labor wasn't the most painful thing she had endured so far. Breast feeding has so far been a challenge. Wifey has to wake up almost every hour at night to feed Theia. And it really does take a toll on her physically and also surely mentally. "What can I do?" I ask myself. I guess the male species can only be by their female partner's side to morally support them.

So you kids out there, if you can't even take care of yourselves, don't even think that you can take care of someone else. THINK hard before you guys have too much fun.

Finally, another blog entry after a really long time. My blog is actually dead and the number of visitors per week is less than 10 :D. Anyways, I will keep on blogging as a diary.

Christmas this year is different because we are expecting our first baby. Wifey is heavily pregnant and baby can be out anytime now. Thus, we've decided not to throw any big parties and opted just to have a simple dinner with my immediate family.

We started the morning with a hearty and wholesome breakkie. Omelets served with baked beans, some wurst and multi grain bread.

Then at night fall, we had a feast. This was my first attempt to roast chicken and grill pork. I think I did OK.

We even had space for some Chinese traditional dessert (Tang Yuen) after all these food.

Everyone ended the night with a smile on their face.

Just to say Hi to you guys out there. Wifey and I have arrived NYC earlier this week and we've been pigging out like we've been starved for weeks before we came. And the surprising thing, we don't miss our usual comfort food ie: Chinese food.

Hey y'all, I'm now in LA down with a bad flu but I still wanna blog about this before I sleep.

I met with a potential customer today and it wasn't the most usual business meeting that I have. He was like in his 70s and quite a character. All he did was promote Taiwanese made products instead of listening to me selling my stuff.

Then finally he said that he will visit our factory before deciding to buy from us or not, which was fine. Many of our customers to that. But then he continued. He said that he just wanted to inspect the toilets........................One look at the toilets will determine the hygiene of the whole factory........

Well, what can I say. I was dumbfounded of course. Mind you I was also speaking to him in Mandarin, a language that I just picked up. Maybe, he saw something in his 70 years of life and learnt something about toilets.

AAaaaccchhooooo!!!!!!

Ok, gotta sleep. Long day tomorrow.

My 3rd trip in 4 months

I'm now writing this using my brand new macbook air which I got from the US, a country which I travel to very often, so often that this is my 3rd trip here since I got back to Malaysia from China in April. Did you know It is actually 1 thousand ringgit cheaper to get the macbook here? I think the weakening of the dollar helped it too.

Anyway, i'm now in a cell dead zone, so i'm being barred from the external world of mobile phones. In order to compensate that, I think I'll blog about something. But, the problem is I have writer's block now. Don't know what to write about now. And it's Saturday night here. I shouldn't be sitting here writing this. I should be out enjoying myself and chilling out.

Will write when I can think of something.

On Monday, I was in Surabaya and I knew I had food poisoning. I went back to my hotel room at 3.30pm local time there and slept until the next morning; waking up just for a shower and a small little piece of bread.

I had fever. I wasn't purging. It was the urge to vomit that I knew that I had something wrong to eat the day before. I tried force vomiting but I just couldn't.

But, luckily I felt much better the next day.

My mum called me today saying that she also had a bad food poisoning and puked quite a few times around the same time I had my food poisoning. We didn't even have dinner together the night before. I was preparing to go to Indonesia and she was in KL.

Was is just a pure coincidence? Did she puke for me so I don't have to go through that when I'm traveling? Sometimes, she could even feel when something is not right with us. Well, the truth is just out there waiting to be found.............

Food (Part 1 of Many)

It’s now midnight in Manchester and I’m still wide-awake. So, I thought why not write something.

The topic this time is food. What is food? Food is an important part of our lives. I can safely say that we’ve been eating since the beginning of time ;) Some people eat to live and some others live to eat. I’m a little in between I suppose. I love food but I do sometimes take some precautions and try to eat lesser sinful food, you know, Chinese food can be real bad for your health sometimes.

So what more can we say about food? Some people really love it, some say it's a chore to eat, some pretend to love it so that they can blog and earn a living out of it. I don’t want to be criticizing and I’m not a food connoisseur either, but I do believe that they are many so called food bloggers out there who might not even know what they are writing about. C’mon guys, are you serious?

I had this idea of writing this post here when I was in the US. I used to say that American food are mostly fast food and stuff, but then during this trip, I began to realize that America does have its own food culture which I think they have to preserve. Just simply go to Manhattan and you’ll find different kind of food from different cultures all over the island. And some recipes have changed to cater to the locals and some have preserved the original recipe until today.

So then, it comes to this question of what is good food? The answer is simple. Food that you like and enjoy. And it doesn’t have to be expensive. Quite often, the best things in life are free or doesn’t cost a lot. I’ve had meals that cost me US$ 100 per course excluding alcohol; it’s good food but if you have that everyday, would you still enjoy the food? My customer in NY chooses only those restaurants when we dine because I normally fetch the bill. What an arse??? It just shows how shallow he is when it comes to food and he claims to be in the food business. I do have my doubts.

Some Chinese swear that steamed rice mix with pork lard is the best food in the world. To me, it's simply, as long as the ‘gwai lous’ are enjoying their sweet and sour pork and their spring rolls, they have enjoyed Chinese food as much as a Chinese who had ordered something non-gwai lou which is off the standard menu.

Sorry I got a little philosophical. I think it comes with age J . More to come.

So Many Happenings

We are soon approaching the half year mark and I must say that it was an eventful 6 months.

Anyway, I'm now blogging out of boredom. It is now Sunday and I've got nothing else better to do. I've even changed my blog layout. I tried viewing it with Firefox, but I couldn't see changes. But the changes can be seen when I use Chrome, which I must say a good browser.

Nevertheless, this is a weekend which I'm looking forward to. I saw my colleague at lunch yesterday who had a heart attack more than a month back. It's good to see him back in good shape after his bypass. We even saw the US vs England game. Luckily the game wasn't too much of an excitement for him ;)

Then at night I had dinner with my ex colleague, who also had a stroke when he was in his 30s. That really reminds me that I should be eating well and exercising more. Or is it the work pressure that we get working for my company?????

I actually wanted to blog about my experience in China but I still find no time or the lack of urge sometimes to write. Nevertheless, I promise to write that post before the end of this year.

I'm now waiting for another friend to turn up from Philly and we'll go have dinner at a steakhouse he booked us at. Hopefully, it'll be good. Before that, gotta get to Chinatown to get some wild ginseng. Better enjoy the weekend while I can before I go to court tomorrow and really hit the road from there on. Chicago, San Fran, NY, Machester, Birmingham & London. Yey, I already feel like shit when I type these destinations. Well, it's part of work.

Big Fat Puggy

It's nice to be back to a place I call home. The feeling around family members and the blokes is priceless.

We took the opportunity to go for our long delayed honeymoon to Bali too after we got back. It was really a nice retreat and money well spent.

Ma has been taking care of Puggy since we left. But, just after one month, Ma and aunt Stella have just been pampering Puggy and I think it's so obvious from the picture below. But, I think she wants to carry something other than a dog, something more than a dog hehehe......

They had been treating Puggy very well. But, they said that it's also good for them. In a way, they told me that they are moving more now and they treat it as a form of exercise. Aunt Stella also gets a companion when everyone is at work.

The last time wrote something on this blog was January 6. That's been awhile. I've been busy preparing for stuff before I enter the Great Firewall of China. Can you imagine they block almost all English blogs? I think I'll have a freaking hard time adjusting to the culture there.

It was great catching up with you Aussie boys and not forgetting the guy from UK too.

New Year, New Beginning

Ahhhhh...... after some free time at home, doing almost nothing just before the new year is indeed re-energizing.

All in all, 2009 was a great year with lots of growth in business and I think that I had also gained more business experience which I'm sure will be of good use in the future.

So, why new year, new beginning is my title this time you wonder. To my close mates, you guys already know that I'm going to live in Shanghai and the schedule is confirmed today. We'll be flying over next week to look at possible accommodation and the actual move will be after CNY. We'll be moving in March. I'm actually looking forward to the new challenges there and have already googled many things there like gym membership, etc.

We'll most likely be living in an expat area where the supermarkets are catered more to foreigners, which is a good thing. I wonder if they stock up belacan there? I'll keep you guys posted but this blog will probably be dead because we'll be only returning only on a quarterly basis. And China is blocking many social websites and also blogger sites as well.

The saddest news is that we have to give away our kids for adoption. Puggy will go to my parents'.

But, we have to find a new home for Max because my parents are not able to take care of two. I think my mum has got a candidate but we can consider more candidates if anyone else is interested.

To say the least, both of them are very obedient dogs despite the lack of training/ care given by me. Max is a very alert dog and a good guard dog. Although small in size, his bravery is the size of a dog 4 times his size. All I hope for is just the best for him.

guys guys, i've been so busy lately i really haven't got time to think of things to write. i haven't been traveling for more than a month now and yet i haven't got time to blog. i really respect those who can update their blog ever so frequently. i'm even involved in r&d these couple of weeks.

so just an update. i'll be heading down south for a holiday with my family next week and after that, it's my favorite time of the year again; Christmas!!!!!!! and yipppeee i'm getting a new toy for christmas courtesy of my company, a berihitam berani.

Dinner Time

Well, I've been back from my most recent overseas for a week already. Nothing much since I came back except work, work, and more work. This time, work includes house chores because my in-laws' maid just went back to home.

They are now trying to apply for another one but the soonest the new one will arrive is in 3 months' time. That's quite a wait.

Nevertheless, I had quite a nice break yesterday with our company's treasure hunt. For the first time ever, the company organized such an event. It was hot and tiring but everyone had fun.

Since I have been neglecting my dogs because of the traveling, I gave them a nice dinner treat tonight; perhaps as a bribe so that they'll continue to be obedient :)

The main course was Golden Omelette mixed with Pedigree canned aromatic meat, served with lamb and rice biscuits on the side. After the main, I served them with succulent Barbarian Pork Ribs. Max and Puggy each had a bone to themselves. It was actually some ribs I had but I couldn't finish. So, I packed it back for them. But of course, their health is most important, so I boiled it again to remove as much salt and oil as possible to prevent skin disease.

By the way, congrats Khai Fei and Ai Lee on their new born. Will certainly find time to visit you guys but this coming week is Intrade.

Ola Madrid

Nothing much to write about Madrid because everyday after work, I couldn't go anywhere far from the hotel because my toe was hurting very bad. I was so near to Bernabeu, the home of Real Madrid and I didn't even go there to have a look. Anyway, I'm not a fan of them anymore.

New Found Love

I have been eating and drinking for the past few weeks. Had loads of pork knuckle and Kolsch (beer brewed in Cologne) in Germany.

I spent 2 night in Den Haag in the Netherlands and well, I did not really had any nice food there. Then, the next stop was Belgium, the land of beer lovers. So, to cut everything short, I have found a new love. At first, it was Stella Artois, then I changed to Hoegarden. Now, it will be Leffe. It is considered ale and darker than beer. The body is richer and the aroma when you drink it is more prominent than normal beers. Too bad I did not have the chance to try the trappist beer, beers brewed by monks who do nothing but just to brewed beer and make the world pissed drunk. Perhaps that is their way of preaching peace.

I'm in Madrid now, but my left toe is hurting from a throbbing pain probably from too much walking. But, damn I have 6 more days of walking to do. By the way, walking means working, not shopping.

Koln (Cologne) Oct 2009

Just finished the first league of my journey. I was in Cologne, home of Kolsch; a type of beer brewed only in Cologne and normally served in a glass that can only hold 200ml. You could easily drink 10 glasses before realizing it. Cologne is also the birthplace of non other than the famous Eau de Cologne.

I have been also eating a lot of Schweinhaxe (Grilled Pork Knuckle) and a lot of Wurst (sausages). So much meat and beer I think I'll be vegetarian for a couple of weeks when I get back home. I'm just missing simple food like just a cup noodle. Luckily I had my rice fix just now with Thai food.

Bed time now. Get well soon dear Olivia. Your Mummy and Daddy will be right next to you.

Just an update

Greetings from Cologne. I know, I know. It's been some time again since I last updated this blog. I've been quite busy with work lately and traveling as usual. I now spend so little time in Malaysia probably my dogs can't recognize my smell anymore when I see them next time. How sad :(

I don't foresee myself slowing down next year as the pressure for more business actually increases with new plants being setup.

I've got so much to write but then when I get some time; writing them seems to be outdated already.

Anyhow, I'll still try to update this blog as and when I find time and some inspiration to write. I hope that you guys enjoyed my new photos in flickr.

Errmmm... where do I start? OK, I was in Hong Kong en route to Malaysia from the US. I was there for 4 days this time and had lots of food. Hong Kong is one of my favorite food haven. Unfortunately, I did not manage to snap photos of most of the food I had.

The usual dish to have whenever I'm there is of course the roasted goose, which is a must when you are there. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get to my favorite restaurant and had to settle with some other place that sold it.

On this trip, I was introduced to a new type of noodle, it originated from Hunan. The soup based was sour and savory which I find very appetizing.

When I say traveling, that means work. I don't travel much for leisure.

Southern Styled Seafood

I was in Texas the other day and my colleague and I suddenly had some seafood craving. So we went to a franchise joint that serves seafood, Southern American styled. It is basically originated from Louisiana.

We started with Mango Mojito. I preferred the margarita I had after.

I had fried alligator as an appetizer. The meat tasted like chicken. Fear factor rating: 1

My colleague had gumbo, a soup which is a very typical southern Anerican food

My colleague had baked scallops as his main and damn, I have never seen scallops this big. It was nearly the size of my palm baked perfectly with herb on top for flavor that will water any mouth.

I had crayfish trio. From left: Sautéed, Fried, and Etouffe served with dirty rice.

I didn't really make a big dent. I was too full already after the alligator.

7. Have you been so tired you felt asleep before the plane took off and the next thing you know, you are half way there already.

8. Have you had a scenario that you just arrived your destination and the only food available was potato chips and cola from the vending machine?

9. Have you ever stopped and asked yourself what room number you are in? Or have you waken up in the morning asking yourself "Where am I?".

I just met a guy today whom I met years back. He told me that his daughter is turning 6 next week. When I first met him last time, his daughter was a new born and she was only 1 month old. That shows how long I have been on the road constantly.

Trivia: Did you know the origins of Tex-Mex? It is actually Mexican influenced American cooking. Texas Mexico, thus Tex Mex. Texas has a huge population of Mexicans living here and Mexico is just south of the border.

Darn tired now. Drove more than 5 hours today from DC to Connecticut. It took slightly longer than expected because of rain showers which has caused some flash floods and of course accidents.

Did I tell you what I saw when I was in my customer's son's car the other day? My colleague was sitting in front next to him chit chatting and I was sitting behind and I saw a used condom. Bloody hell!!! Luckily I did not step on it. Who knows what might squirt out. Yucksss!!!!

OK OK, I know I have been slacking in my blogging lately. I just haven't got the time. Trip after another trip. I'm writing this now in the US of A on a nice warm Sunday evening. It's always best to travel this time of the year; anything other than winter is fine for me.

I'm a bit lazy to write much but the most memorable moment during this trip was of course the death of the King of Pop. Rest in Peace, Michael. The deja vu was actually that we bought the theater tickets for Thriller earlier that day before we saw the news that he was hospitalized.

Just some photos from the trip. As you notice, I don't put many of my DSLR photos here. It's all from my phone or point and shoot camera. If I put too many DLSR photos here, then you won't visit my flickr site right?

Noticed this on the way back. Lesser Panda? Shouldn't it be Little Panda? Lesser Panda was also printed on the box. Dumb ass Chinese ciggy manufacturer who put the Chinese words into an online translator.

Jakarta, Indonesia

Ok, it's time to update my blog again; since I can't sleep again. Thanks to the jet lag.

I recently went to Jakarta before my trip to London. Indonesia is a nice place if you have money (lots of it). It's a gold mine too if you are a business person.

Some of the things that I have noticed about Indonesia from this trip is:

1. Spicy (as in Hot) Food - They can really eat spicy food. I would rate them higher than Malays in Malaysia in terms of spiciness threshold. And Thai higher than Indonesians. Spicy food really makes you eat non stop, but the peril is the toilet session the next day.

2. Language - Please correct me if I'm wrong, I find the Indonesian language vocab to be bigger than the Malaysian language, with less words borrowed from other languages. But this next thing I'm quite sure of. Their foul language vocab is definitely bigger.

3. Smoking - Smoking is permitted everywhere. Even inside nice air-conditioned restaurants which certainly annoys me. Malaysia is slightly better but I think it can be improved. I want no smoking zones in all public areas.

5. Blackberry - Indonesia is now officially a Blackberry nation. Every other people you see has a Blackberry. You go to a shopping mall, you even see little kids with Blackberry. What for????

After a crazy week of clearing up my back log which was created when I was in Jakarta, it's weekend again. Thank God it's Friday. And tomorrow happens to be the alternate Saturday that we are closed. Praise the Lord he created weekends!!!! hahaha

So, being the practical guy that I am (stingy accordingly to some people), I took my family out for dinner in conjunction of Father's Day and my dad's birthday which is always near Father's Day; talking about killing two birds with one stone. hehehe

We went to a Hunan styled restaurant which is on the same street as Hyong's Kui Ming in Kuchai Lama. The name was Restaurant De Hunan; it sounded something like Kelab De Vegas to me. So should I be expecting call girls inside? Indeed there were a few, but they were patrons along with some other guys.

Let me just brief you about Hunan. Hunan is a province in China where Chairman Mao originated. There in Hunan, Chairman Mao is still a God-like figure. I've seen people offering incense and praying to his statue.

OK, the food. Food profile is spicy, greasy and salty. The food in this restaurant is authentic, or I would say that it is quite close to the Hunan food I had in China.

The steamed fish head with green chili is a must. The sauce is so nice that they'll serve noodle in it so that the sauce is not put to waste. This is not for the faint hearted, the spiciness is probably 8/10 for an average person. So now you'll figure out why the topic above; Burning Tummy. I think the output department in my body will have a tough time tomorrow.

The next dish to try is the stir fried shredded potato. Everyone enjoyed it tonight. You don't eat this in any ordinary Chinese restaurant.

OK OK, I think I better stop here. I don't want to be promoting something and getting no money. I'm a marketing guy man. But all I wanted was for my family to try whatever food that I have tried overseas. Hope they enjoyed it.

I actually wanted to blog about drivers and how close the put themselves to the steering but I can do that next time.

OK, it's time for one of my favorite topics. CARS!!!!

Before that, let me just write something. The other day, VH was saying that he'll get into politics and so, he doesn't want himself being shot photos of him doing silly things like wearing a bra on the outside. Hmmm... so now I wonder, should I be so honest when I blog in case I still wanna get into politics in the future? Let's hope my honesty does not get me into trouble in the future. Anyway who cares (for now)?

Back to cars. I've always wanted to say this. I've analyzed and concluded that car designers have lately played with car designs around the human eyes. First, BMW introduced cars with cataract; if you know what I mean. You get a ring of light when you turn on the low light. Then they had headlights with eyebrow makeup on them (on the 5 series). Then, Audi introduced a range of cars with eye liners (their LEDs below the headlights) which I think is so sexy!!!

I think Merc has been losing out on the race and they better buck up soon. Luckily, they still have a huge following on the S Class which I think is quite a cool car to sit in (if you are not Chinese). If you are a Chinese, then you'll just be another China-man sitting in a Ben-Ze.

So, what's next? Who knows. Perhaps someone will do a nose job and make their cars like how Subaru make their WRXs (pronounced as Rex, please). Evo X now has a mild nose job done already. This reminds me of a guy who likes Evo and was laughing at my WRX Version 8 with the huge scoop on the bonnet. EAT YOUR OWN WORDS NOW!!!!!!

The past couple weeks have been mundane weeks. Except my bud's wedding which was a blast, nothing else seems to be worth mentioning. Everyday has been work and nothing but work. I got a complaint from a friend saying that my blog doesn't get enough updates.

So here you go.... an update........ ermmmm.... can't think of anything to write......

AHHH!!!! I have something which just came to my mind. American Idol. Hell I didn't know guys my age in particularly in my clique are into AI. We were watching the finale right before we went to KF's stag night and my oh my, these guys can come up with really good analysis on the votes, great logical views on performances, etc. But too bad Adam loss.

That really shows we really need market research before spending any advertising money.

Anyway time for some reading before bedtime.

Busy Being Busy

Ahhh..... lastly feeling better now, was down with flu last week and still don't feel 100% yet. Hopefully it's not pig flu :)

Well, the past 2 weeks have not been the busiest week for me. When I don't get busy, I get sick. I have noticed this trend for a few years now. So, I think I should make myself busy again; which comes to my topic this time.

How many times have you stopped and just realized we have missed something important, not datelines but something more simple like you forgot your partner's birthday, or it's too late at night to just give your parents a call just to say 'Hi'. The list can go on and on. Well, top of my list is: to go for honeymoon and get my parents and my in-laws their long waited wedding albums. But the albums is not my fault, our photographer ran out of albums.

I don't wanna sound emo here, but life is indeed short, so play hard, work smart, and take it easy when you really need to take it easy.

The best things in life are REALLY free.

Every time I listen to my Beyond CDs or over the radio, I can't help but to ask myself "Where the hell is my Beyond: Live & Basic Concert VCDs?". I myself haven't watched that performance and I so voluntarily lend it to my friends.

It is a double CD recording of one of my favorite bands from Hong Kong which they happen to tour Malaysia after the lead singer passed away from a freak accident.

So, you kids out there, don't lend stuff that you treasure to people whom you think will not return them to you.

I just finished lunch and while I was lunching, I was talking to my colleagues about how to train dogs on shitting at the right place. Well, throughout the whole conversation, the word "SHIT" wasn't uttered by anyone of us at all.

Then, suddenly the lady sitting next to me in the coffee shop told me that our conversation has made her stop eating. It had spoilt her appetite. I was dumbfounded. I have never come across anyone so sensitive before. Her colleague sitting in front of her did not even dare to look at us.

Luckily, I was in a good mood. I gentleman-ly said "Excuse us". I could imagine what she could get from me if I was in a bad mood.

Business Traveling

It's now 3.45am and I'm still awake; thanks to none other than jet lag. That's one of the shittiest part in business traveling.

In addition to that, getting sick when you travel is also not fun. I had a bad food poisoning that came in stages during my last trip. I had it in Dubai and it ended in Portugal. First, I had fever and I knew I ate something wrong. I felt so lethargic for 2 days and I felt better when I reached London.

After some food in London, I started purging. 6 times a night. London was just a transit for 1 night. Then, my 2.5 hours flight to Portugal was one of the longest flights in my life; not the duration of the flight, but the number of time I had to go to the toilet. 3 times and also puking on in the plane wasn't that nice. I arrived in Portugal feeling just like a piece of shit!!!

After Portugal, we went to Rome; which was luckily the best part of my trip this time. We had 2 whole days free to ourselves. We toured Rome like nobody's business. This is the best part of business travel although you have to deal with the above 2 shit list before you get to enjoy.

I think I'm falling in love with Rome.

Au Revoir

This Chinese new year is indeed a memorable one. It is also the first year my wife and I give out angpows (red packets).

But the most memorable thing that happened is that 3 people that I know has either left or going to leave. Not all of them are very close to me but it is worth a mention here.

One of them has left this world for good. She was my classmate Lee Yeok Jang. I'm not exactly her friend because as a true friend I would know much more about her but I don't. But she did make a deep impression on me during the period when she was fighting cancer. She was a real example of sheer determination. May God bless her family and I'm sure she is in a better place now.

Then, my mate Han just left for Sydney last night. I'm sure it is a better place for the family in the future. Better education for little Xian Ning that's for sure. Han: Please enjoy Sydney and KB & I hope that you'll love it as much as we did. All the best!!!

Another memorable one is a guy that I know of is going to be a monk soon; not here but he's flying over to the US to be a monk. He would probably be the first and the last monk "friend" that I'll know of. And once you be a monk, you severe any ties to the outer world, including parents, siblings and friends. But, it is still hard to imagine that he's going to be a monk after he told what many things he had done in the past.

I will not be seeing the 2 out of the 3 for a long time. However, I do hope all 3 of them are happier in wherever they are now.

Long Time No Post Post

Just got back from a mamak session with the old scouts boys to discuss about our coming Mount Ledang expedition and I just felt like blogging.

Hmmm where do I start? There's so much that I've wanted to write but I just don't have time to write everything in my mind.

First things first, I would like to welcome my mates Jin Han and Wai Keong to the Amigo's photo shooting club. A club within a disbanded football club. Nevertheless, I look forward to shooting with you guys but I still can't understand why Wai Keong chose a Canon despite Han and my convincing.

Then, I have always wanted to talk about the US since my return from that country. It is indeed a milestone that America now has a black president elect and it was just 53 years since Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat for a white passanger. Will Malaysia will ever have a non Malay Prime Minister?

According to our current PM, yes. But, there are even constitutions in some states like Perak which does not allow a non Malay to be a Menteri Besar.

So, to cut everything short, I would say that we have to still strive hard for many more years before we see any improvement. It is good that our government is trying to give more opportunity for people to get higher education. I hope that this will slowly change the new generation's mind and our politics is just not about RACE.

I already see hope now. I have got more Malay friends who thinks that the Rakyat as a whole should come first and not racial difference. But, I think there must be a political party that is setup entirely not based on ethnicity.

This is already getting boring. But I have noticed one thing in common between George W Bush and our PM. Bush will be going out of the White House with the lowest approval rating. And I have a feeling that our PM's position is also very close to him. Let's do a vote at the comments section. 1 for the worst rating and 10 for the best rating.

One Night in Paris

It's been awhile since I blogged. I've been busy after my return with all my back log and I just got back my laptop after it crashed the other day. Luckily the service center guys just had to flash my BIOS and viola!!! my laptop is back to normal.

A white truck was driving down the opposite direction. Suddenly, the driver saw something on the road and he tried to avoid it. Doing so, he swerved and lost control of his truck.

The truck hit the center divider and literally flew across the opposite direction. An oncoming black truck was approaching fast. Both drivers tried to avoid hitting each other head on.

BANG!!!!!!

The trucks collided.

Everyone on the road stopped. Some came out immediately to see if they could help; some called 911. The smell of diesel was in the air. Smoke was coming out from the white truck. The damage looks bad.

The driver of the black truck seems to be fine. BUT, the damage on the white truck looks bad.

Face expression of the good Samaritans who tried to help the driver of the white truck did not look good. His legs are crushed in the truck and one of it severed. The body looks lifeless as it hangs out of the truck.

The first man who reached him turned his head back showing signals that the drivers gone.

11.50am: He's dead.

I was this close to the scene. One minute earlier, I stopped for 20 seconds on the side of the road to remove my jacket as it was getting warm inside the car. If I didn't, I might not be writing this blog now. And we are lucky to have another monstrous truck to take the hit for us.

Thank God.

My prayers go the the driver and his family. RIP.

After London, we went to Miami for business. We had jet lag the first day and so, that's why you'll see some sunrise photos later.

Miami Beach is a place where famous singers used to go to sing in hotels. People like Frank Sinatra have all performed here. The are lots hotels that still looks very classic; just like the one below.

Miami Beach is also a famous place which I think to flaunt your beach bod, boob jobs, sports cars, etc. There are lots of models living around that area too. Another famous person who used to live here was Versace who was shot in front of this house which I took a shot of below.

Some Updates

It's now late Friday night; I'm tired and sleepy but since I'm not working tomorrow, I'm refusing to sleep until i get really, really tired.

This week have really passed very quickly and many things happened. Amongst them were:

1. Sent my sis-in-law to Pantai to be hospitalized. Her blood sugar was so high she was nearly unconscious. But everything's fine now, she's out today but she has to follow a very strict diet regime. Just pray for the best for her.

2. Nikon just launched their D90 camera which is a replacement for my D80 which I just bought 3 weeks back. SHIT!!! But I'll still promise more nice pictures for you guys to enjoy.

3. Busy with work - have to clear off all my work before I go for my 6 weeks trip. NOTE: it is not a holiday trip; it's a business trip.

4. Got 4 wedding invitations in a week. One of them falls on the same day and same time as the Man U vs Liverpool game. But then again, that will be the only one I'm attending since I will be away during those 3 remaining weddings.

5. Still waiting for my claims to be approved by the developer before I start shopping for the things destroyed during the water damage incident.

6. Still planning where to go for our honeymoon; after 6 months into our wedding.

Aaahhhhhh........ Finally, after months of staying in the hotel and climbing stairs, we are now back at our home. We have been busy packing and unpacking throughout the long weekend and thus, the long silence in this blog.

Everything's just like when we first moved in but most of my electrical gadgets are now gone. I'm making a claim against the developer for them to compensate me those things affected.

I have been playing with my camera too but I still have things to learn. I'll be travelling soon. So, hopefully you guys will see nice photos soon.

My Brand New Nikon D80

Bought a new toy over the weekend, a new DSLR camera that is. After months of researching and comparing between Canon and Nikon, I chose a Nikon. I know the debate between these 2 followers will never end. So, I don't want to start debating that in my blog.

I bought the body only and I had to get a lens. So, I invested in a 18-200mm lens. All in all, this new toy did burn quite a big hole in my pocket. However, I know that this is just the beginning. I have yet to buy a flash, more memory cards, more batteries, more lenses, a tripod, etc.

Nevertheless, I promise to post more nice pictures here in the future.

And lucky for me, my wife bought herself a toy too; a PSP. So, I'm spoilt with choices now. A camera or a PSP during my free time (which I don't get a lot). Well, I guess I can live with both for now.

Again, we went to the mall next to us last night for dinner. We were choosing between the latest 2 fast food in town. Carl's Jr won over Wendy's and I'm quite sure we made the right choice although this choice was more expensive; not a little but quite a bit.

Phew..... it's been a couple of weeks since I last posted. So, here's some memory flash backs. Eeerrmmmm... here we go:

1. Very busy with work

6. Newspaper still full of crap news about politics - wonder whether this will bring in more foreign investors into the country or not

7. Thinking of getting a DLSR camera first or paying the down for a car

8. Still fixing my bones with my chiropractor

9. Went for a first round root canal - my bloody wisdom tooth spoiled my molar

Will try to post more frequently but then again, the traffic here is low. Nevertheless, this is a syok-sendiri blog; something to do to entertain myself when I'm a bit, just a little bit free.

Of iTunes and firmwares

Internet was down at home for few days and thus the delay in new posts.

I was also busy fixing my iPhone. It all started when I updated my iTunes version 7.6 to 7.7. It screwed up my Outlook contacts at first. Then, it asked me whether to update my phone's firmware. I did and I couldn't even use my phone.

Here's how to fix it if you guys out there encountered what I did. The firmware 2.0 upgrades your firmware and baseband. Upgrading the baseband locks your phone to only approved carriers like AT&T. So, you have to downgrade your baseband using some programs downloadable on the net. Then, restore it to firmware 1.1.4 using iTunes. And then unlock you iPhone all over again.

New Trend in Swimsuits

Since I moved to a place next to a shopping mall, my wife and I have visited it countless times already. This is because the service apartments provides us buggy rides to the shopping mall or other facilities 24/7.

OK, enough about that. What we have noticed is that this whole Sunway resort is very much catered to Middle Eastern tourists. This is evident because they even name a part of their mall Marakesh, which is a place in Morocco.

Another evident is this.

A full set of swim suit completed with a head gear.

I don't mean to be rude but I really do not see a point in this. If men sees Charlize Theron or Jessica Alba in this skin tight swim suit, men (maybe not all) will still probably have some sort of a fantasy.

I guess our middle eastern friends also have figured this out too. That's why I don't see their wifes in the pool.

Homeless

I just returned home from a 3 weeks business trip only to return to another hotel. My house was badly damaged by a burst in the hot-water-solar pipes which had wrecked a big hole on my ceiling.

My wife returned home from work on that day just to discover a waterfall inside our house. We are lucky as the ceiling did not drop on our heads and our beloved pet, Max is not at home too.

Now, the developers have to fix our house and we have to move out for at least 2 months.

I have now moved to a duplex in a place near some pyramids and lagoons if you know where I mean. You guys are welcomed to visit me there anytime. Quite a nice place I would say, but nothing beats the comfort and pleasure of returning to your own home.

Big Apple July 08

Work has brought me to the States this time. It is the Big Apple where I spent most of my time. I had only half a day between my return from Taiwan and my departure to NY. So, I really had to make the best out of my time.

Before I left I celebrated my father's birthday because I had to be away for 2 weeks, which is a short trip to the States comparatively. It's his 60th birthday this year and we celebrated it with a lot of Siu Loong Paus in Ding Tai Fung, Midvalley.

While on the way to NY in MAS Airlines, in one of the meals served, I noticed this.

A Guai Lou aka Mat Salleh would probably be thinking why are we Malaysians bottling 'AIR'?

Oh, by the way, I just got to know that my favorite airline, Thai Airways have stopped their direct flight to NY. The stewardesses, who coincidentally stay at the same hotel as I did confirmed it. Sigh. It's my preferred airline because of this routing.

Business has brought me to Taipei this time. After my first day's work, I have managed to find some time to go around and see what Taiwan is famous for.

First stop, it is non other than the famous Taipei 101.

Then, after all the shopping with my wife, we have to fill our stomachs with the famous Oyster Mi Suah which is a kind a Chinese noodle in starchy broth added with an oyster. Where did we have it? We had it in the Shilin Night Market. Here are some pictures.

Then, as we walked around the night market, we noticed some foul smell. We then realized where it came from. The smell came from them

This lady was frying "Smelly Tofu", a dish that is also famous in Taiwan. My wife dared me to try it and I welcomed her challenge. So, we bought a plate and we finished it. Many people tell me it is very nice although smelly, but both my wife and I don't think so. The taste is not that great after all.

Then we stopped by a store for our dessert; fruits.

To my surprise, the fruits were so sweet I couldn't believe it. Then, my wife told me that Taiwan has very advanced research on agriculture. Well, I guess they are also as good as Thailand who puts a lot of effort into agriculture. I wonder whether is it too late for Malaysia to go back into agriculture.

I think I'll stop here for Taiwan. Next stop, USA. But, before that, this is a photo that you won't see in Malaysia.

After a very long delay, I have finally managed to set up my own blog.
